We Took the Classes over 25 Years Ago… Changed Our Lives!
Pastor Wayne Sedlak is my favorite teacher in all my high school and college courses. When you take his classes you know you are being taught a powerful and dynamic biblical view of history, logic, and economics. The insights and...

ABOUT THE COURSE(S):
“AMERICA AND THE MODERN WORLD”: “Two in One” Coursework
“Two in One” Coursework: This Course “doubles” as BOTH an American History Course and a Modern History Course. Your choice as to which you need.
Few Christian home school programs have a thorough understanding of current events and the modern history of the world that is foundational to those events!
Too many Christian day schools and home schools leave a vital "gap" left untaught... the Modern world and the vast changes within both Western Civilization as well as the key movements and events challenging the Christian faith, its values and truths.
This course is designed to restore the Christian values, liberty and scholarship for our children to defend, uphold and maintain while learning the great Truths designed to build character and insight into personal life.
COURSE OBJECTIVES (General and Comprehensive)
1. Objective 1: Above all else, to show the student the Majesty of the Triune God and His Son Jesus Christ, demonstrating the absolute accuracy of the Inspired biblical record embedded throughout the whole course of the rise and fall of nations of the world, thus giving witness to a real call for students to weigh carefully and consider the case for a strong Faith in Jesus Christ.
2. Objective 2: To teach the student how to focus in their listening skills and how to take accurate, concise notes. (This is a preparatory skill for both listening and focusing attention while learning how to organize. This is an invaluable scope of college and future work skills.)
3. Objective 3: To give the student a clear grasp of the REAL FOUNDATIONS given by God to our nation …and the source materials PROVING that foundation.
BUT THERE'S MORE...A WHOLE LOT MORE!
What my son most appreciated about the Academy at Reformation Hope Church, was the honesty and straight forward nature of Rev. Sedlak. Our son, age 14, attended three classes this past year, taught by Rev. Wayne Sedlak. The in-depth look at the history of our United States was a challenging but great experience for my son! The Academy undergirds the history with an examination of the Christian principles appropriate to the event or person being studied at any given time. This is a real help for me as a Home School parent.
Miles enjoyed Economics the most. I appreciate that it has begun to train his mind into thinking ahead to his future. We are seeing how he is applying what he learned about in economics in his daily life now and we look forward to how he will use the knowledge in his decision making as he enters adulthood.
He was also introduced to Pastor Sedlak's class on the Constitution. I am amazed at the amount and quality of material covered, so surprised at the incredible Christian heritage and their influences upon our Constitution and Bill of Rights. For this class, Rev. Sedlak also assigned additional reading that my son so enjoyed that he would read chapters out loud to his sister and I.
I am truly thankful for the undergirding of Scripture in all the lessons taught in all three classes. I'd highly recommend The Academy to all homeschool parents, and do look forward to this coming year of classes. I also appreciate that The Academy does both the grading and the teaching.
These classes have changed lives of students for over 30 years:

A. COURSE ASSUMPTIONS
1. The Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God and is the Standard given by God to all people for the evaluation of truth, good and evil.
2. Jesus Christ is the only Way by which a person may be redeemed (“saved”) from sin unto eternal salvation.
3. Jesus Christ was, is and always shall be the Son of God, fully God and fully man - One Person, two natures, as revealed in Scripture.
4. Jesus Christ is the rightful King of all nations (Psalm 2; Daniel 7:13-14; Revelation 1:5) and of all creation (John 1:1ff). As such, He is to be obeyed, honored and revered (Isaiah 9).
5. The Bible reveals the full Godhead (Romans 1:18) as a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – One God.
6. History is subject to the Glory of God and finds, as its central focus, the Person and Work of Jesus Christ.
7. God’s people are “salt” and “light,” being keys to the witness of the Truth in Christ and are therefore central to the purpose of history.
B. PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
The purpose of this course is not only to provide instruction in the history of the ancient world (foundational for Western Civilization, though other ancient civilizations will be touched as well), but also to stir young people’s hearts concerning the Lord who consistently and predictably reveals His Presence and Power among the peoples of the ancient world.
Though too many courses emphasize kings and battles, rulers and the march of armies, this course will emphasize peoples, languages, and culture (the arts, medicine, science and technology of the ancient world, family life, economic and business life, etc.). Evidences from around the world are presented as each civilization is examined. The course has been praised for its powerful impact and call to faith in Jesus Christ, who is the centerpiece, focus and purpose of all history.
C. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This ancient history course is designed to present an exciting, in-depth view of the ancient world, with special emphasis upon the embedded historical world provided in the Bible. This foundational history begins with the biblical account of Creation (6 Day creation), Antediluvian civilizations (Pre-Flood civilizations examined), and the Great Flood of Noah. From there, the student will be given the extraordinary foundational record of Genesis 10 (“Table of Nations”) which became the platform on which the rest of civilization was erected historically. The nations and civilizations of the ancient world will be studied as described and are listed below in the Course Objectives and Course Topics/Units.

COURSE OBJECTIVES (General and Comprehensive)
Objective 1: Above all else, to show the student the Majesty of the Triune God and His Son Jesus Christ, demonstrating the absolute accuracy of the Inspired biblical record embedded throughout the whole course of the rise and fall of nations of the world, thus giving witness to a real call for students to weigh carefully and consider the case for a strong Faith in Jesus Christ.
Objective 2: To teach the student how to focus in their listening skills and how to take accurate, concise notes. (This is a preparatory skill for both listening and focusing attention while learning how to organize. This is an invaluable scope of college and future work skills.)
Objective 3: To give the student a clear grasp of the REAL FOUNDATIONS given by God to our THINKING …and the basis of a “sound mind and unshakeable assurance.”
Objective 4: To give to the student a thorough understanding of the fact that Logic and Argumentation, as a discipline, are skill sets ALL OF US NEED in life to be successful and live in conformity to the faith in the Living, Triune God.
Objective 5: To get to the student a clear understanding that logic and argumentation go far beyond “Rule of thought” and really do not depend upon “trickery” to convince your neighbor. The but also includes the study of the culture carriers: The arts, music, literature, law and government, medicine, languages, trade and business, money and finance, family life, religion (true and false)… all as evaluated from God’s Word.
Objective 6: Throughout the course, as we study the biases, prejudices of other approaches to “argumentation” and how people engage in the use of fallacy in the presentation of their arguments. The object here is to teach the Christian student how to be effective, persuasive and convincing using the skills taught in this course.
Objective 7: “Interpretation” becomes an objective study, based on Scripture, as opposed to the current approach of the modern world which abandoned interpretive certitude for a world of pure relativism, humanism and even mysticism. We teach students how to identify these dangers, overcome them, and present an effective Witness to others … and all to the glory of God!
Objective 8: Roberts Rules of Order is now moving into its second century, leading English-speaking peoples in the way in which they conduct a strategically direct their Public Forums. Such Forms exist in the corporate business world, local regional and national politics, Clubs, Associations, and Social Forms of all types use different variations of the original Roberts rules of Order. Learning how these Rules are used can make the student extremely effective – strategically – in thwarting ungodly influences, while successfully implementing better policies from Christian and “Freedom” perspective.
